A Pressure Pump is a machine which will increase the pressure of a fluid. A liquid booster is similar to a liquid compressor, but generally a simpler mechanism which often has only a single stage of compression, and is used to increase pressure of a gas already above ambient pressure. How does a pump increase the pressure? The first resistance is created by the pump volute (casing) which catches the liquid and slow it down. When the liquid slows down in the pump casing some of the kinetic energy is converted to pressure energy. A pump does not create pressure, it only creates flow! Pressure is a measurement of the resistance to flow.
